MODERN
Form follows function. Minimalistic, deliberate asymmetry, neutral colors with an intentional modest splash of bold color on accessories or abstract art. Materials are metal, concrete and glass. Clean straight lines throughout the architecture and furnishings. A geometric accent wall accentuates an open concept that is devoid of trim on windows, doors & walls. Modern spaces are pullulating with south-facing natural light. Furniture is light in weight and size, built for comfort over ornamentation which leads to unique shapes and angles. Furniture and cabinetry are made from industrial materials including molded fiberglass, & laminated wood. Modern design always moves in advance of current times pushing into the future. Because of this there’s evolving construction methods & invented materials that will lead to the next “modern style”. A couple of modern materials we may see come into furniture and building materials is Karta-Pack, and Tethonite.
RUSTIC
Nature meets comfort. Natural elements of the earth like wood, stone, & iron are married to organic fabrics such as jute, canvas & wool. Earthy colors are used on walls, fabrics, & handmade art. A combination of mountain and ranch style living inspires the use of animal skin rugs, mason jars, hand carved, primitive wooden bowls, vintage, repurposed materials like old doors & raw exposed wood beams. Whether a quaint cabin or a space with tall, vaulted ceilings, these spaces are warmed up by a large stone fireplace and deep comfy leather sofas. Handmade, chunky wooden furniture. Spacious wooden drawers make up most of the cabinetry, while clay, glass, and copper are displayed on open shelving.
TRADITIONAL
History meets glamour. Inspired by 17th & 18th century styling. Fabrics are delicate chiffons, linens, embroidered silks, & velvets. Rich hues dance with warm neutrals. Multiple patterns such as damask, paisley, & plaid are used together on fabrics and wall coverings. Detailed, hand-crafted millwork, richly stained hardwood floors with sizable area rugs, button-tufted upholstery, symmetrically placed ornate décor, elegant window coverings and sophisticated furniture.
COASTAL
Breezy & cozy combine with light, airy detail. Fabrics are cotton & linen. White and light neutrals are used for walls, window treatments and furniture with pops of ocean inspired colors. Décor includes using sea glass, wicker, rattan, and weathered woods. Surfaces are whitewashed or matte. This style can take on a beachier feel when adding nautical elements like lantern light fixtures, seashells, sea creature & sea life art.
TRANSITIONAL
Balances luxury with comfort, a mix of traditional and modern. Pliable leathers, chenille’s, modern lines mixed with classic curves and more details in millwork than modern design. There are both masculine and feminine accents. There’s unity in the use of old and new elements. This is repeated throughout finishes, furniture, coverings, and accessories. Colors include beige, greys, browns along with bold accent colors. Transitional design is combined with many other design styles, used to blend together & create balance when combining styles.
INDUSTRIAL
Raw and exposed architectural details such as pipes, ducts, metal, brick & wood. Open warehouse-feel using recycled materials, salvaged and vintage furniture. Metallic, grey color tones, old wood or polished concrete floors, open shelves displaying antique factory & laboratory pieces. Stainless steel cabinetry & reclaimed wood countertops mix an old-world and modern feel to a stripped back open space with dramatic high ceilings & very large windows.
